Writing is important in a math class as well. Students should be able to communicate their thinking when they are solving problems. They should also be able to write out explanations to certain problems, especially word problems. Students should reflect on problem solving, explaining what they did and why they did it, justifying their answers. Students should write sentences that include symbols, expressions, and equations.
