M+M: Math and Metaphors
This strategy tests students to compare a mathematical concept to an everyday concept. It makes students make meaningful connections to everyday life. metaphors are a good memorization strategy so these will help the students remember the concept. These questions can be used to help students connect mathematics to their lives:
Students will create their own metaphors related to math. A fun way to do this is by putting objects from the classroom into a bag and have students select one object from the bag. The students would have to connect that object to math and write a metaphor about it. |
